Subaru's First Steps Into Hybrid Power

Subaru's hybrids strike a smart balance for drivers who want efficiency without leaving behind the familiarity of a gas engine.

• Crosstrek Hybrid: Compact, versatile, and ready for adventure, the Crosstrek Hybrid pairs its battery-assisted powertrain with standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and X-MODE® traction management. With 194 horsepower on tap, it's well-suited for winter commutes or light trails on the weekends. It's a great option for shoppers looking to reduce time spent at the pump without worrying about plugging in.

• Forester Hybrid: Building on the nameplate's long-running reputation for practicality, the Forester Hybrid delivers the same rugged personality as the gas-powered model, while adding meaningful efficiency for both daily errands and longer adventures. It combines a 2.5-liter SUBARU BOXER® engine with dual electric motors, resulting in 194 horsepower, an estimated 35 mpg combined, and nearly 600 miles of total driving range. Meredith-area families will also appreciate the roomy interior, cozy yet supportive seats, generous cargo space, and standard EyeSight® safety technology.

Subaru's Current All-Electric Offerings

Subaru has also stepped boldly into the EV market, starting with the Solterra. The automaker's first fully-electric model makes 215 horsepower and can travel an estimated 227 miles per charge. Its EV-tuned Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive gives it more confidence on rough roads than many other electric SUVs, while dual-function X-MODE® provides added grip in snow and rain. The cabin features a modern design with available StarTex® water-resistant upholstery, plus a large touchscreen display and a suite of driver-assist technologies.

The Solterra's upcoming refresh will offer even more, including a larger battery, a stronger dual-motor setup, and improved fast charging. The 2026 Solterra will raise output to 338 horsepower and extend range to an estimated 285 miles. The 150-kW onboard charger can replenish the battery 10-80% in roughly 35 minutes at a compatible station, making longer journeys across New England more convenient. Plus, the new NACS connector extends access to Tesla's vast Supercharger network.

What's Next: Trailseeker and Uncharted

The next chapter in Subaru's electrification story begins next year, as two all-new EVs are set to arrive in the spring of 2026.

• Trailseeker: Larger and roomier than the Solterra and built with families in mind, the Trailseeker will deliver 375 horsepower, 260 miles of range, and a 3,500-pound tow rating. Standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and dual-function X-MODE ensure that confidence never wavers, even in snowy conditions or on dirt roads outside Laconia.

• Uncharted: This fully electric subcompact SUV offers two flavors. The front-wheel-drive Premium trim focuses on efficiency, generating 221 horsepower and providing more than 300 miles of range. Sport and GT trims dial up performance with 338 horsepower, dual-motor all-wheel drive, and about 290 miles of range. Inside, the Uncharted features an accommodating, tech-forward cabin highlighted by a 14-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration, and everyday conveniences like a power liftgate and heated seating.
